About me

I am studying Information Communication Technology at the ZHW (Zürich University of Applied Sciences) in Winterthur.

I love to travel around the world and meet new cultures in my spare time. So far I've been several times to the Caribbean Seas and South-East Asia.
During a trip to Thailand two years ago I took up Scuba Diving. Since then I've completed several courses and am now a PADI Rescue Diver. I've learnt a lot from the courses and my dives. For once that we have to take care of our environment to conserve the resources for future generations.

I started reading books as soon as I learnt to read in school. For the last seven years I've been reading almost exclusively in English, which improved my vocabulary to a great extent.

Something else that inspired me to improve my knowledge of the English language was my love of the movies. I'm an avid movie buff; there were times when we went to the cinema every week. In addition to frequenting the cinema I own an extensive DVD collection. As a rule I try to watch the movies in their original language whenever possible, therefore I own many DVDs which were imported from the US and from Asia.

Another passion of mine are Role-Playing Games. It started 7 years ago with Pen & Paper Role-Playing Games. In this version of the game every player has a character sheet which describes its abilities, strengths, weaknesses and powers. One player is the Game Master, he tells the story and controls all other characters which the players meet. The Game Master sets a Task, which the players try to solve combining their skills and wisdom. To determine the outcome of a situation, every player describes his actions in detail and in some cases rolls dice.
A couple of years ago I started participating in Live Action Role-Playing Games. The premise is the same as in the Pen & Paper version, however, every player performs the actions himself. Imagine a group doing an improvised theatre without an audience. That's what comes closest to describe a Live Action Role-Playing Game.
My social skills profited enormously from these games. One is forced to interact with other players and sense their motives to achieve one's own goals.
